GreatGrandparents meet the newest Great Grandchild

Here are Great Grandpa and Great Grandma enjoying their first visit with the newest member of the family.
Grandpa was really quick and got this picture - the eyes are actually open!

Here's what the boy looks like usually! Coming into the world is hard work - a boy needs his sleep!

Our New Grandson

We were working out at the Y on Wednesday morning, when our younger daughter arrived unexpectedly to inform us that our older daughter had delivered a bouncing baby boy that morning! Needless to say, our workout ended at that moment, and we all piled in the car to make the drive to meet this young man.

As you can see, he has very long fingers, and has matching long feet and toes. He weighed in at 7 pounds 14 ounces.
Grandpa was delighted to see that he fits on his lap, at least for the time being.
Here is Dad, a bit tired, but very happy to have a new fishing buddy. The shirt came from Australia.

Grandma was thrilled to hold this newest member of the family, a boy to play with the girls down east!

Here is the Aunt, who must be the only person whose job provides her with "Aunt"ernity leave. She took the day off work to meet her new nephew. Of course, he had been requested specifically by her (to be a boy that is) so I guess she felt entitled to take time from work.

And here he is....tired from his journey but absolutely perfect!

His Mom was very happy that he had arrived as well. She, too, was tired, but excited!

We welcome this young man to our family. We can hardly wait until he wakes up and joins the fun!

In the Pink!

As most of you know, we will be celebrating a family wedding in November. Since the bride (seen below) has chosen charcoal and pink for her kitchen colours, we thought it would be fun to have a "Pink" kitchen shower for her and her groom. We found all kinds of pink kitchen small appliances and gadgets. One of the hostesses had a pink apron and cap made for the bride, which she wore throughout the evening (she's a good sport).

The mother of the bride, the bride, and the sister and maid of honour.
Here are the hostesses with the bride. The one in the middle was kind enough not to have her baby on that night!

Relatives and friends of the groom.

Grandmother of the bride and long-time friend.

This is the crowd from the lake. They look pretty tame here, but they were definitely enjoying themselves (and laughing loudly)!

The theme was carried through to the food. Here are some of the pink goodies the guests enjoyed.

We all wish the beautiful bride and her handsome groom years of happiness and joy with their pink things!

Cottage Country

We took a drive this lovely September day to visit our daughter and son-in-law, who have recently purchased a cottage in Cottage Country. The lake was perfectly still, and there were very few people around. It was a great way to relax!

We took a walk and found lots of lily pads like this - beautiful patterns and shades of green.
Our son-in-law was brave enough to go for a dip, sans wetsuit, in a lake which is cool at the best of times. The rest of us just watched.

While we were sitting around the campfire, we had visitors. Actually, we found evidence that we had bear visitors too, but we didn't catch sight of them. This family was very tame.

Midway through our walk to the cottage belonging to my brother and sister-in-law, the mom-to-be needed to stop for a rest. We gladly joined her on top of the boathouse.

View of the big lake from the top of the same boathouse.

Our son-in-law has built a great firepit, using rock from the lake. We spent most of the day sitting around it and chatting.

The new barbeque. It should be good for a few burgers!

Visiting our Grandkids

As promised, here are some of the pictures from our week with our two granddaughters. This is the newest one. This picture was taken when she was just about two and a half weeks old, and was keeping her eyes open for about 30-40 minutes at a time. That was a big increase from a few days before that!

Her first visit to Grandma and Grandpa's trailer. She was not too impressed! Actually, she slept for most of the visit.
Number one granddaughter loved the pool. She jumped, was tossed up in the air, and became a human "hot potato" in games with dad and grandpa.

Grandma and #1 read this book lots of times. There is a great deal to learn when you are a big sister!

Grandma's favourite photo.

#1 spent a night with Grandma and Grandpa at their trailer. Her first sleepover was a resounding success. She went to bed with no difficulty (probably because G. and G. went to bed too) and slept for 12 hours straight. In the morning, she was happy to read the paper with Grandpa.

Eating breakfast in the trailer.

What a happy girl after her long night!

Enjoying a first campfire. There were no marshmallows - those are Cheerios in the dish!

Mom and Dad and #2 came for supper before the sleepover. This is Happy Hour!

Auntie Heather sent #1 a sticker book and a painting book. She was having a great time with the stickers.

Just hanging out.

G. and G. found a Dora sprinkler at Kohl's. It was fun - but Grandma had to run through it first!

All in all it was a great trip for G. and G. We really wish we were closer together so we could have more sleepovers and more cuddles with #1 and #2. Babies grow too fast!
