Mouse Hunt

A while ago, my sister said, "Come to the cottage this summer. We'll have fun - jump in the lake, sit in the sun, have happy hour." So... I decided to take her up on her offer this past week. Little did I know that I would become part of the team which has been hunting for the entrance some field mice have been using. We pulled out cupboards and the stove, and thought we saw some possible mice doorways, so off we went to get some stuff to plug up the holes.

This is the picture my sister won't mind that I am posting. Here she is under the cottage, in the leaves and whatever else is under there, looking to see if she can see the light I am shining where we think there might be holes. In the end, she sprayed EVERYTHING in sight (including herself). She definitely plugged holes. I left early the next morning. I sincerely hope there are no more mice problems, because my sister's skin and hair can't take any more remedies!

And yes, I did get a swim in the lake, and two happy hours!

A Beautiful Country Wedding

Saturday was a gorgeous, hot day- perfect for a wedding. The day reminded us of the exact same one, August 16th, five years ago, when our older daughter was married. This time we travelled to the country for the wedding of the sister of our almost son-in-law. It was perfect, and we were delighted to meet many friends and family of the couple.

As you can see, the bride was beautiful, the groom was handsome, and the guest were happy.
And here is the next couple in both families to be married. If they look this good at someone
else's wedding, imagine how they will look at their own! We can't wait for December to come.

The Big Apple

Those of you who read the blogs published by other family members will know that father and son went for a whirlwind weekend to New York. Here are some photos (courtesy of J.) to prove they were really there!

At the game (in the so-called "cheap seats"). They were lucky enough to see the old-timers game and the regular game against L.A. The Yankees won, so they even got to hear Frank sing "New York, New York". After the game, they waited over an hour to get into the Yankees shop to buy souvenirs. True fans!
On Friday, they took a long tour of NY, including all the highlights. It appears that this is the way to see the city - on top of a double decker bus!

No trip for Dad to NY would be complete without at least seeing where David Letterman hangs out.
If you are interested in learning more about their trip, go to the complete account at
www.awfamilyblog.blogspot.com. I'm sure they will have more great adventures in the future, but for the senior member of this twosome, this was the ultimate!

Visits with three grandkids in one trip!

We had to go and see our grandkids in the east once again, before the youngest one's first birthday. Dad and Grandpa went to New York to visit Yankee Stadium before it is torn down, but that's a topic for another blog (once Dad sends me the pictures). Mom, Grandma and the two girls had fun at home!
This little one, who will turn one tomorrow, definitely knows her own mind, and does not want "baby food" any more! She wants big people food, and is quite capable of handling what is put on her plate!
She loves her car (and doesn't really share it with her sister, although it belongs to both of them).

Big sister goes to school two days a week. Soon both girls will go to school every day, when mom returns to work. They will have a great time there. So much to learn!
While Dad and Grandpa were away, the girls went to Storybook Garden. This is the maze. It was a great place, and we did make it to the play structure in the centre every time!

There were many play structures. You can't quite see the dark tunnel slide at the left, but it is high and very dark! Grandma was glad that Mom and daughter went on that one!

At the end of the day, we all took rides on the carousel. What fun!

This is the splash pad in the middle of the park. Water squirts up out of everthing, or it dumps on you! Both girls had a great time, and it was hot enough that the very cold water felt refreshing, at least most of the time.

On our way home from the east, we stopped at another grandchild's cottage. We were lucky enough to get to go for boat rides. Most of us weren't as bundled up as was the owner, shown here with his trendy Gap hat on!

Early the next morning, he wanted to go for a spin. Nobody else was ready for a ride quite that early though. (Note the NY Yankees outfit - a real hit with his mom).

Videos follow. The first is of the big girl jumping into the pool at swimming lessons. Ignore the voices you hear. We were filming from up above and others were there as well.
The second video was supposed to be of the little sister walking, but grandma made a mistake when she was posting it, so ignore that one also.
The last video should be of little sister walking.

She is very busy and is into everything. Happy birthday one-year-old! Don't grow up too fast!
