Peg Leg Pete has a new fibreglass bright orange cast (the colour was his choice - over such colours as pink, blue, yellow, green, and camouflage). Here he is cuddled up with Poppa watching his favourite - the "puppy" movie (101 Dalmatians). He loves that movie!
Today Peg Leg and Namah went to the zoo to see the monkeys among other animals. To our surprise, they were decorating for the annual "Boo at the Zoo" event. There was so much to see! Here is peg leg among some pumkins.
This new cast is one with which he can walk, although he didn't choose to do so until he was at Stay and Play with his mom. I guess he really needed to get to all the toys, so he decided to walk. When you watch this, you will see why we call him "Peg Leg"!
Find something about which you are passionate, and then live your life showing it.

The Big Owie
So... the phone rang, and elder daughter asked, " How do I get to Children's Emergency?" Apparently Mr. Gets Into Everything had taken a wee bit of a tumble (not even sure from what) and had an "owie" on his leg. X-rays showed a "toddler fracture", an apparently common injury for two year olds. We had already planned a sleepover so that his mom could get some appointments in, so he came over, owie and all! I have to say, it has slowed him down a bit. However, he doesn't complain much at all, and was a real trooper through all the hospital stuff - not even a tear.
The toys downstairs are still exciting (although I think Namah and Poppa really should spring for some more). He got what he wanted by scooting on his bum (like the olden days), rolling, and pointing.
The puppy came for a visit (sorry, I don't know how to get rid of puppy "red eye", which for puppies is "blue eye"). That was a big hit for both of them. The puppy was just as happy that the boy couldn't chase after him!
We had planned to go for special hot dogs and fries, and we did. It was a glorious September evening, so we went for a walk down to the water too. The puppy didn't get fries - he stayed in the car.
Who knew there were cartoons on CBC at 7:30 in the morning?
The living room "tent" was a big hit. All in all, it was a fun visit. We thought the baby would be the next exciting bit of news, but we were wrong! Let's hope that this is the end of this kind of excitement. For a few days at least, Mr. Gets Into Everything will be getting into a bit less.

Curious "George" Turns 2!
O.K. so before anyone makes a comment about how I have nothing to do but blog, I need to tell you that this whole process is much faster using my new laptop. So what used to take me a bit of time, now takes only half that time (especially downloading the pictures).
We were off to the boy's cottage for another rollicking birthday party. This one was held a bit early because he will have a sibling shortly, and his mom wanted to make sure she got this party in! I hope she will now put her feet up and rest a bit.
The theme was, as you probably gathered, "Curious George". He is one of the birthday boy's favourite characters. George goes everywhere with this young man.
Guests included the relatives, of course, as well as neighbours from the lake and a couple of good family friends.
The girl cousins helped him open presents (actually, they decided which presents he would open and then he did the opening himself). While this year he got the idea of opening gifts, he still seemed a bit confused why he couldn't then stop and play with each gift once it was opened!
Great grandpa (known as poppa) and the neighbour whose skiis I have borrowed a couple of times, enjoy the action. What a small world - the neighbour grew up in the north end and attended what some people think is the only high school in the city, and knows our best friend/uncle/godfather to our son.
The masterpiece....
and the materpiece creators! They were understandably proud of themselves, as the cake really did look like George!
Shirt off again for cake - it was yummy, as was the rest of the huge party lunch.
Now before you take a look at this video, you need to know the background. Mom and Dad thought a pinata would be a good idea, as there were several young people who like action and love candy. Namah (grandma to anyone else) found a monkey pinata. In the video, the birthday boy seems to be enjoying taking the first few hits. However, as the game progressed, and the monkey's body ended up hanging by a thread from the head, and when it finally broke completely, this young man was very confused why we were happy about hurting "Georgie". Candy distracted him while Dad took the remains down. Just so you know, Georgie is going to be reassembled, so the boy can see him whole again. Hopefully there won't be any nightmares as a result. Not such a good idea, Namah!
Happy birthday, big boy! Now we are on baby watch!
