Wedding Bells!

What a day Saturday was! Our youngest went for a job interview, and one hour later she had the new job! Later that day, while on an evening walk, the love of her life asked her to marry him. Talk about having a good day!

We are delighted to announce the good news, and to inform everyone that most likely a wedding will take place in December. Stay posted for more news!

Here is the happy couple, the day after the proposal.
Someone has good taste! What a beautiful engagement ring this is.

Winter Wonderland

Today's entry is for all those readers who do not live where we do. If you have been reading this blog regularly, you will know that we have had unseasonably cold temperatures this winter. Every once in a while we get a "teaser" day, as we had last Saturday, when the temperature approaches something we enjoy, but then it is back immediately to the deep freeze. I just heard on the radio that the windchill today makes it feel colder than -40 C.

However, there is still beauty in the cold. Yesterday I looked out the window and saw one of those scenes that you think artists invent when they paint landscapes. The sun was on the way to setting (but we still had light, unlike a few weeks ago). The shadows on the snow made it look blue. Try as I might, I couldn't capture the colours adequately, but here are a few pictures of the snow, just so you know what you are missing. The first and last are from our living room window, and the middle (through the screen) from our bedroom window.

We're So Proud!

For once, it was not a frigid day when a special event occurred. Family, friends, and colleagues gathered at the University to witness the opening of the new fitness facility. That in itself would be reason to celebrate, but the real reason we were all there (family anyway) was to celebrate the fact that the Fitness Facility is to be named after one of us!!!!

The entrance to the fitness facility is through the shop, seen here being prepared for the official opening. Note the red, black and white balloons, and the t.v. cameras.Dignitaries and some relatives found seats. The rest of us gathered in the back to watch the event.
Here is the man of the hour, explaining how the facility came to be. This picture was taken before he knew it was going to be named after him!

And here he is with the president of the student organization, just as he is being informed what the name of the new facility will be.

The official ribbon cutting. The same scissors which had been used to cut the ribbon opening the athletic complex in 1984 were used again today.

We are all proud to have our family name on such a fine facility. Does that mean that from now on, we all have to be fit?
